The re-launch event for EEVR was successfully held virtually in AltSpaceVR. The energy was high as four speakers took the stage, followed by mingling in the lounge area. The summary as well as videos from all talks can be found below (and in EEVR Youtube channel), together with a picture gallery from the event.

The first talk was held by Märt Lume, the chairman of EEVR (Estonian Virtual and Augmented Reality Association). He covered the motivation for rebooting EEVR, plans for the future and gave a quick summary of Estonian XR industry based on the short survey conducted at the end of 2020.

Rein Zobel spoke about Maru VR’s most ambitious projects to date, a VR experience presenting Estonian national epic: “Son of Kalev’s Journey To Hell”. The talk covered the creative inspiration, interaction design, acting, motion capture and management of the project.

Kristen Tamm from Futuclass shared how long-time experience of running Estonia’s most successful VR arcade led to creating educational VR software. Futuclass study modules, created in collaboration between teachers and game designers, teach STEM subjects to middle-school children in schools and at home using virtual reality.

Andres Ääremaa from Taltech (Tallinn University of Technology) presented the plentiful opportunities that exist in the newly equipped Mektory XR Center. Featuring a sauna, a lounge, the latest headsets and a classroom with top-of-the-line PC-s, XR Center is open for events, workshops and co-working.

After the official part, participants proceeded to mingle in the lounge. Below is the picture gallery from the event.
